Under Austrian rule, the Italian city of Brescia experienced one of its most important revolutions.
The independence of Verona and Milan, combined with Austria's imposition of a fine on the population of Brescia, was the trigger for the historic "le dieci giornate di Brescia."
Even in the face of a strong adversary with far more resources, Brescia was not an easy adversary, initially putting the Austrians in difficulties, forcing them to take refuge in the famous "Castello di Brescia," from where they bombarded the entire city, gaining control of the conflict, but not yet victory.
The battle for independence, led by the patriot Tito Speri, spilled much blood, leading the population to fight bravely for 10 days against the powerful Austrian army, leaving the mark of the Brescian people: determination, honor, and courage.
